How to write best CV for Ireland

Are you facing trouble that your CV is not getting shortlisted? Let’s hack into employers’ minds and see how the hiring managers review your CV? Here I am also sharing a few DIY techniques to help you understand how to update your CV. Follow the CareerIreland page and Career Coach if you need such updates more frequently.

1. Quantity and Quality- The first thing Hiring managers look for is to understand your experience’s quantity and the quality of your experience. How many years you’ve worked, and what kind of projects you’ve delivered. They see mainly whether you have the ability, knowledge, and skills to work with minimal supervision and whether you can bring the results.

2. Specifics of the CV – Hiring managers pay greater attention to your specifics – for, e.g., if you’re a data analyst, what kind of visualized reports you’ve created, what sort of KPI you’ve tracked, etc. For example, e.g., If you’re a QA analyst, what was your bug detection rate? What was your automation coverage area? So they usually like to see any specifics on your deliverables.

3. Team Work and Stakeholder Management- They usually look for examples of teamwork and projects where you’ve delivered results. What were your responsibilities with respect to all teams, and what level of interaction and involvement do you have with customers and outside your team?
4. Assignments and Projects – Your project and assignments are very deeply evaluated to see what you have learned from these and what kind of value you can add to the new organization.

5. Your initiatives – Especially if you have more than 5 years’ experience, then it is very important. Employers generally see if you have brought a new initiative( other than your core responsibilities) within your team, organizations, or customers. Specially FAANG companies are looking at these initiatives very seriously.

6. Your attitude (Action person Vs. Passive person )- Pls see two examples below (1) Involved in requirement gathering process for the customer needs and participated in documentation preparation OR (2) Gathered customer requirements with respect to customer business case and translated business requirements into Functions requirement specification. The first example demonstrates Passive behavior, whereas the second one shows Active behavior. Employers usually prefer an active candidate who can take charge rather than wait for someone’s directions.
